Fantasy Writing Success

The John West Fantasy Writing competition has been taking place for many years.  It encourages students to tap into their creative talents and compose their very own original fantasy short story.  This competition offers so much fun and excitement in promoting each child’s imagination and their individual journey of success.

The theme for this year’s national competition was ‘Under the Sea’, and Mick Clifford 1K was selected as one of only seven finalists in the Junior category of the competition.  Mick’s wonderful tale entitled “The Trial of the Sea Angler” wowed judges and his story was selected from thousands of entries submitted from all over Ireland.  The story is about a fisherman who drowns and is transported to a fantasy world where he is put on trial for the mass murder of innocent salmon.

Mick was invited to the Mansion House in Dublin with his family on the 29th April to attend the prize giving and receive a kindle for his work. Many congratulations to Mick and his teacher Ms. I. Costello on his achievement and his continued success in the future.
