Poetry Aloud winners!
Poetry Aloud is an annual poetry speaking competition organised by the National Library and Poetry Ireland. This year’s regional heats took place in St. Bridget’s Presentation Convent, Killarney on Tues 15 October and four students from Presentation Miltown participated, accompanied by their English teacher, Ms. Kennefick.
E. Canavan, E. Griffin and D. Leane competed in the Junior category, and Gabriel Galway represented the school in the Senior section. Each student gave a fantastic performance with Eoin Griffin and Gabriel Galway winning their heats and going through to the semi-finals in the National Library in Dublin at the end of November.
Seamus Heaney, patron of Poetry Aloud, cited the extraordinary way in which the competition seeks to celebrate the joy of speaking and listening to poetry. We wish Eoin and Gabriel the very best of luck in the semi-finals.
