Well done to all students who participated in the Poetry Aloud Regional Finals in St. Bridget’s in Killarney on Monday 20 October 2014 with the help of their teacher, Ms. Kennefick.  The participants were also ably assisted by Ms Cogan and Mr O’Sullivan.

Students from first, second, third, TY and fifth year took part.  They included: Fiona MacDonald (first year), Lola Bubendorfer (second year), Sinéad Bartley (third year), along with Niamh Ladden, Rí Galway, Emily Cahill and Oonagh Kelliher all from TY.

The Senior Category was represented by fifth year students, Cathal Foley, Megan O’Connor, Aileen O’Mahony and Liam Stein.  The competition was fierce, with 105 students from all over Kerry and Limerick competing.  Only five students from each category, Junior, Intermediate and Senior, went through to the next round.

Four students from Presentation Miltown were successful, the highest number from any school.  They will perform at the semi-finals in the National Library in Dublin at the end of November.  This is following on from the school’s Poetry Aloud 2013 successes with Gabriel Galway reaching the semi-finals, and Eoin Griffin competing in the finals.  Lola, Emily, Rí and Liam are already learning their new poems in preparation.  Best of luck and congratulations to all concerned!
